Can these pedals do the job of the most revered amps ever?
Welcome to the show! Looking back through our old videos, it’s shocking to find that we’ve not done a Tweed Pedals show yet! So here’s the first one, largely in response to Origin releasing the Deluxe 55 and Reeves Electro’s new Leo Twelve.
What is a Tweed amp? Well as far as pedal emulations are concerned, it’s usually a mid/late-1950s Fender Deluxe or Bassman that wears that oh-so evocative light brown/yellow tweed jacket, hence the name. Outside of that we have the expected Princetons, Supers, Twins and so on that collectively make up THE most important guitar amps of all time, ever.
As always, getting an amp sound from a pedal is literally impossible, so instead what we’re looking for is a flavour of the beast when used with another amp.
Clearly there are loads more tweed-inspired pedals out there – no doubt the comments section will reflect that.
Enjoy the show…
Oh, and if you’re confused by the Bass Breaker that looks like a Bassman… It’s a Fender Custom Shop amp from 2002. It’s literally a ’59 Bassman circuit into 2 x Celestion Vintage 30 speakers. Nothing to do with the later Bassbreaker series.
