In this episode we take our first look at the Strymon Riverside Multi-Stage Drive pedal. Introduced at the end of 2016, the Riverside uses an analogue JFET front end in conjunction with three additional, cascading gain stages that use digital signal processing.
As you’ll hear in the video it can go from a clean boost all the way through to a metal-type distortion, all from a single pedal.

To give some perspective on the sounds we’ve added three much-loved, commonly available overdrive pedals that all do slightly different things: the Fulltone OCD, Ibanez Tube Screamer Mini and Wampler Tumnus. How does the Riverside stack up? Let’s find out…
