The mental states of two middle-aged men notwithstanding, The Digitech Whammy is without question among the all-time classic guitar pedals, put to immense effect via artists as diverse as Tom Morello, John Scofield and Jack White. Its genre-defining pitch shifting initially delivered a glitchy, badly-tracking mess and while the ensuing years have brought a quantum leap in processing power, it is that idiosyncratically unnatural sound of the Whammy that has won it such a vast legion of devoted users.
With that in mind, we we start with a basic introduction to the Whammy before discussing some other ways to introduce real-time pitch shifting to your tones.
