That Pedal Show – 8 Great Distortions: Boss, ZVEX, Bogner, Thorpy, MI Audio, Suhr & Keeley

In this episode we compare eight great distortion pedals. As regular viewers will know, we talk about overdrive pedals a lot, and we’re big fans of fuzz too. The humble distortion pedal is often overlooked on TPS, so we thought it was high time to redress the balance a little bit.
We begin by talking briefly about the key differences between the terms ‘overdrive’, ‘fuzz’ and ‘distortion’ before diving headlong into our chosen pedals and riffing like the rock gods we truly are. (yeah, in our dreams).
Now, seeing as we mention rock, we should also mention the giant standstone lump of the stuff in the middle of Australia. Mick referred to it as ‘Ayers Rock’ towards the end of the video, which became its name after 1873 when surveyor William Gosse sighted the landmark and named it after the chief secretary of South Australia, Sir Henry Ayers. Now then, there were some people around just a little bit before that – the Aboriginal Pitjantjatjara people – and they called it ‘Uluru’. These days it’s officially called ‘Uluru / Ayers Rock’. This all according to Wikipedia, of course. No doubt there will be many comments about this, hence the clarification here. If either of us had ever been actually concentrating at school, rather than constantly daydreaming about guitars we’d own one day, we’d have probably taken some of this in. In fact Dan may never have even been to school. Some say he was raised by burrowing bears near a vacuum tube factory in Siberia.
Ahem.
