Celestion’s new low-volume speaker means you don’t need an attenuator – but does it work?

Welcome to the show!

AT NAMM 2025, British speaker leg-end Celestion announced a super interesting new speaker, The Peacekeeper. It’s aimed squarely at the lower-volume market, either for home, stage or studio, by lopping around 12-15dB off the sensitivity (loudness) of a ‘normal’ guitar speaker. That means you can use it with your favourite amp (rated at 50 watts or under) and get those cranked tones at much lower levels.

The Peacekeeper raises a whole host of questions, perhaps the most obvious of which is, ‘Well, why not just use a basic attenuator and your regular speaker?’ Okay, let’s ask and answer that.

Enjoy the show!
