Do you have to have acoustic-specific gear? Not always…

Welcome to the show! There was a time, in our living memories anyway, when ‘acoustic guitar’ was synonymous with ‘nasty and lame’ for a great many electric players. Add to that the fact that a high quality acoustic guitar was rare and expensive… AND they sounded pretty awful when amplified. It wasn’t the most compelling of areas to explore.

But times and gear changed. MTV Unplugged kicked us off in understanding that actual, normal humans //really// like acoustic guitars when they’re playing songs. And then high quality, affordable electro-acoustic guitars started appearing, alongside a quantum leap in acoustic pickup and amplification options. The dear ol’ electro-flattop’s appeal went through the roof.

Nevertheless, for predominantly electric players, the electro-acoustic world is still shrouded in confusion… a brown confusion for the most part, where acoustic-specific amps and pedals are probably a step too far.

Fear not. Just use your normal gear? Well, it wouldn’t hurt to try…

Enjoy the show!
